CAPITAL CITY EPIC

25-09-2021 / 04-12-2021

September 25 Ural Vision Gallery presents personal project of Ural artist Osip Toff CAPITAL CITY EPIC. Osip Toff is the pseudonym under which the artists Alexandra Gracheva and Nikita Baltinskikh work. They easily play with contexts, archiving social, historical and cultural experience, turning it into casual plots and intellectual puzzles.
To quote Osip Toff: The Capital City Epic is a set of random fragments of a large and moderately fabulous story, which people write about themselves in the context of a place and for themselves as a keepsake. The mythology of the Capital goes here by way of partial exposure in the composition of stereotypes, which are both archaic and not so.
Text for exhibition was written by famous St. Petersburg art critic, writer, curator, professor at the Higher School of Economics Stanislav Savitsky.

Starting an artistic career in 2016, Osip Toff attended numerous exhibitions, fairs, and auctions in Moscow, Budapest, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Riga and Geneva. In September 2021 his artworks were successfully shown at viennacontemporary and blazar art fairs.
